Bars and restaurants have real power to shape a community’s sense of self. We use smart, beautiful branding to help you launch, grow, and prosper.
Chattanooga Brewing Company opened in 1890 under the direction of George Reif, and operated until 1915 when Prohibition forced them to close their doors. The brand lay dormant until 2010 when a pair of engineers with a passion for brewing saw an opportunity to resurrect it.
As designers, we were captivated by its history, and went looking for more. Our local public library had archived a gold mine of pre-prohibition era branding for CBC that we used as inspiration while creating their new look.
Niedlov’s is a family owned and operated wholesale bakery and retail cafe. They have been Chattanooga’s traditional artisan bakery since 2002.
The challenge was to update one of Main Street’s most recognizable and established vendors and create something refreshing and new, while also still retaining the timelessness of the existing brand.
The end result was a wordmark inspired by the handcrafted, old-world typefaces seen in documents from the late 1700s, paired with a color system that showcases the unique ingredients that have made Niedlov’s a Chattanooga staple for the past twenty-plus years.
“The corner of Main and Long Street—home to Chattanooga’s new food hall, Market South. Three established restaurants, a coffee, cocktail, wine, and vinyl shop, Five Wits Brewery, and a chef incubator concept inhabit the space. Think Indian street food, Pizza al Taglio, and an Asian fusion wok-focused eatery in the front to start the hall off. A wide array of beers will fill the indoor/outdoor brew hall.” - Alex Curry
Needing several brands to exist under one roof, Market South asked for a one of a kind experience for each vendor, while keeping a throughline of sensibility and class.
An unused direction for the fine folks at Kenny’s Southside Sandwiches. Drawing inspiration from traditional blacklettering, we wanted to impart some old-world charm into Chattanooga’s most beloved brunch destination.
The building itself played a key role in developing the distinctive traditional approach. Its large, original brick façade adds rustic flavor to its exterior, while the polished and sophisticated interior details maintain a dignified atmosphere. The logo utilized soft angles and points of traditional blackletter to merge the classic and contemporary.
Taimen is one of the fastest growing logistics companies in the industry. They have one mission, “ Be the best for you.” This was none more apparent than in their involvement in building their new brand. They were excited, thoughtful and great listeners through the entire process and it really shows in the work.
Tasked with creating a logo that retained the fish from their original mark, we modernized it to highlight that they are tech forerunners of the logistics industry. Sharp angles, dynamic motion and vibrant color all add up to a brand that is fast paced and future focused, yet friendly and welcoming.
Ride 1Up has been a leading name in ebikes since 2018 by providing people with exceptional quality and name-brand components at surprisingly affordable prices. Their mission is to get more people out of cars, for the good of their quality of life and their communities. As a company who stands by their customers, they are all about offering them more and better options when it comes to great transportation.
As a growing company, Ride 1Up wanted to update their logo and emblem to match the quality at which their bikes were being manufactured. After doing an audit of the current brandscape, this mark was created to elevate current market trends, while being unique enough to stand out when a customer is making their final decision. Also, we think it looks killer on their bikes.
Located in North Chattanooga, this exciting new pocket community will be nestled atop the ridge of Woodland Heights. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of living downtown but, at the same time, be apart from living right in the center of the hustle and bustle. This low maintenance, detached home community is right where nature and the city connect.
Blending ideas of “home” and “city” we wanted to give Northwind a one-of-a-kind identity that was easily used at human-scale as well as digitally in advertisements.
A collection of favorite logos and illustrations.
